The Speech and Drama Association of South Africa KwaZulu-Natal-based, non-profit organisation Also referred to simply as The Speech and Drama Association
Founded in 1943 by Elizabeth Sneddon (later made the Honorary Life President).
A KwaZulu-Natal-based, non-profit organisation which, through bi-annual, non-competitive festivals held at some 150 schools, attracts more than 30 000 entries. Professionals adjudicate individual and group presentations of poetry, prose, story-telling, improvised drama and plays. Chairman, from 1981, Bruce Piper. Executive Committee has included David Horner, Joan Little, Pieter Scholtz, Ann Wakefield, Mervyn McMurtry. (McM)
