Alexander Wilmot

Alexander Wilmot (1836-1924) was a post master, historian, poet and playwright.

Also published as A. Wilmot.

Writing

Besides a number of works of international history, his South African works included The Zulu War (), The History of South Africa(), The Story of the Expansion of Southern Africa (), History of the Cape Colony. For use in schools (1871) and the History of the Colony of the Cape of Good Hope, written with John Centlivres Chase (1869).

He wrote the play The Treasure at the Woody Cape, or The Days of Ryk van Tulbach (performed in Port Elizabeth 1867)
