Anne Butt is a former leading figure on Durban’s theatre scene, who died at the end of August 1999.

Career
She made a major impact on the local amateur dramatics scene in Durban during the 1960’s and 1970’s. A strong actress and director she appeared in and directed productions at the Old Lyric Theatre, the Alhambra Theatre (when it operated as a theatre) and the St John's Theatre (headquarters of the St John's Ambulance) in Old Fort Road, Durban.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
Her last major appearance was in An Inspector Calls staged by the Durban Theatre Workshop Company at the City Centre Theatre (formerly situated in Kings Hall).
She directed Murder Mistaken, presented by St. John Players at the St. John Theatre, from 26 October to 4 November 1972.
