Het Dorp aan de Grenzen is a Dutch musical comedy in 2 acts by Jacob Van Lennep (1802 - 1868)[1].
The original text
A comedy, styled a "schets uit den tegenwoordigen tijd in twee bedrijven, about the Belgian Revolution of 1830, it was first performed in the Stads Schouwburg ("Civic Theatre") Amsterdam in 1830 and published in Amsterdam by P. Meijer Warnars in 1831.
Performance history in South Africa
1834: Performed in Cape Town under the title Het Dorp aan de Grenzen, of De Hollanders en de Brabanders, as an afterpiece to Het Schandmerk, of De Twee Galeiboeven () on 12 April 1834 by Vlyt en Kunst. Additional music by a local composer was added to the performance in Cape Town.
