Lindani Obed Nkosi (born circa 1969). Performer, singer, dancing teacher and choreographer.

Biography

Youth

Training

He was a BA Dramatic Arts student at Wits.

In 1991 he attended Vista University and studied Scociology, English, Economics and Psychology. From 1993-1997 he attended Wits University and studied BA Dramatic Arts.

Career

Lindani danced with the Soweto Dancy Company from 1990-1994.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Lindani performed in a number of student productions, including A Raisin in the Sun, Oh What a Lovely War!, Cabaret and The Suit.

Theatre performances as a professional actor include a British and American tour with Marabi, a South African tour with West Side Story and a European tour with the Soweto Dance Theatre.

Other productions include Summer Holiday (1998), Play@Risk (2001), Love, Crime and Johannesburg, Five Guys Named Moe, Who Really Freed Nelson? (2004), Green Man Flashing (2005), Ain't Misbehavin' (2006), Soweto Story (Deon Opperman, 2007).

Lindani plays the bongo drums and sings bass and baritone. He enjoys jazz, mapansula, tribal, contemporary and ballet dancing and mime.

Awards, etc

He was the winner of the Richard Haines Award.

He was nominated for a Vita Award (Gauteng region) best performance in musical theatre, award period 1999/2000, for Love, Crime and Johannesburg.
