Fanie Steenkamp (born circa 1960) Designer.

Biography

Youth

Training

Fanie studied drama at the University of Stellenbosch in the early 1980s.

Career

Befor joining CAPAB he worked as Art Director on the Frans Marx television series Kampus. He was appointed to the CAPAB Design Department in 1988.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

He designed various children’s productions such as Geraldine Aron’s Why Strelitzias Cannot Fly and Danger at Dalebrook Cove as well as very successful schools’ programmes like King Lear and Joernaal van Jorik.

He designed While Stocks Last and Seriously Considering Sydney and he costumes for Poison, Plastics, Arcadia and Dying Breed.

He also designed two highly acclaimed operas: The Milkbird and Child of the Moon.
