The original text
Performed on 27 August 1700 by Les Comédiens Français and the text was printed by Barbin in the same year.
Translations and adaptations
Translated into Dutch as De Dwarsdryfster ("The contrary woman"), and styled a "kluchtig blyspel", by Pieter Anthony de Huybert van Kruiningen. Published on 1 January 1718 by J. Lescailje en Dirk Rank in Amsterdam.
Performance history in South Africa
1838: Performed in Dutch as De Dwarsdryfster by some players from the amateur company Vlyt en Kunst on 3 October in Cape Town , with Het Veemgerigt, of Wreedheid en Grootmoedigheid (Ziegler).
