A hugely popular local adaptation for the stage, based on Sir Richard Burton’s translation of The Arabian Nights.


Performance history in South Africa

1980: First presented by The Company, staged at Upstairs at the Market and the Market Theatre Main Hall in 1980, directed by Janice Honeyman and featuring Vanessa Cooke, Nicholas Ellenbogen.

1981: Performed at the Baxter Theatre in 1981, directed by Janice Honeyman and featuring Frantz Dobrowsky, Vanessa Cooke, Adrienne Pearce, Robert Whitehead, David Eppel, Lesley Nott. Lighting by Mannie Manim.
