Susanna Reyniers is a comedy ("blijspel" in the original, later "blyspel") in three acts by A. Francken (1860-1949).
The original text
The historical play, set in the time of Jan van Riebeek, has 30 characters, 24 men en 6 women, plus a number of non-speaking roles ("figurante"). Written in 1907(?), published in 1908 in Amsterdam by De Bussy; then in 1919 (2nd ed) by De Bussy (Amsterdam and Pretoria), and H.A.U.M. (Cape Town). It was a popular play in its time and reprinted many times, including 1921 and 1939.

1917: Performed in Graaff Reinet , directed by S.F.N. Gie and Pieter Pohl.
