The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) is a federatiuon of trade unions in South Africa launched in December 1985 after four years of unity talks between 33 unions opposed to apartheid and committed to a non-racial, non-sexist and democratic South Africa.
COSATU is part of the tripartite alliance which has governed South Africa since 1994.
