Der öffentliche Ankläger

Der öffentliche Ankläger ("The Public Prosecutor") is a 1948 play in three acts by Austrian playwright Fritz Hochwälder (1911- 1986) [1]. A look at the violence of the French Revolution and specifically the notorious prosecutor in the French revolutionary law court during the Revolution and Reign of Terror periods, Fouquier-Tinville [2].

1970: The André P. Brink translation Die Staatsaanklaer was staged by PACOFS, directed by Brink, with Cobus Rossouw (Fouquier-Tinville), Neels Coetzee (Grebeauval), Jannie Gildenhuys (Tallien), Louw Verwey (Sanson), Johan Botha (Montane), Louise Mollett-Prinsloo (Theresa Tallien), Jan Prinsloo (Fabricius), William Egan (Heron), Andries Lategan (Polisieman) and Brian Scott (Polisieman). designed by Bill Smuts.
