The original text
Described by Van Bork et al in the Dutch Algemeen Letterkundig Lexicon[1] as a good example of the 18th century "comédie larmoyante"[2] (sentimental comedy or "tearjerker" as it would be known today), the text was published in Amsterdam and Utrecht by G.T. van Paddenburg en zoon and M. Schalekamp in 1793.
