A supporter of [[C.E. Boniface]] in the 1830s, he became the secretary of the amateur company [[Vlyt en Kunst]] in about 1833/34. However, he is oned of a number of persons named De Kock active in theatre at the time. Who precisely he was beyond this role as secretary to [[Vlyt en Kunst]] is therefore unclear. He was possibly the same person billed variously as [[J.J. de Kock]], [[J. de Kock]] or [[J. de Kock]] C. zoon.

Biography

Born in Cape Town, he is one of a number of persons named De Kock active in theatre in the 1830s. However, it is unclear whether the individuels referred to variously as J.J. de Kock, J. de Kock or J. de Kock C. zoon by F.C.L. Bosman (1928) are possibly all the same person, or possibly siblings or children.
