(Literally "The child of love") A German play in five acts by August von Kotzebue.
Published in 1780/90/91??.
At least four English adaptations of the play were published between 1798 and 1800, though only the one appears to have been performed in that time. (See Wikipedia[1]). The performed translation was Lovers' Vows by Elizabeth Inchbald (1798 - the play famously rehearsed by Jane Austen's characters in the novel Mansfield Park), and it was this version which was performed a few times in South Africa during the 19th century.
