As stage actress started in Cape Town performing in Maeterlinck's Die Indringer (1935) for the University of Cape Town, and for the Kaapstadse Afrikaanse Toneelvereniging in Die Heks (Leipold, 1936), **** In 1939 she and Aletta Gericke founded Die Kunsskool ("The Art School") in Stellenbosch, to provide training for performers in Afrikaans.
