A contemporary African dance company founded in 1999 by Artistic Director, Gregory Maqoma, VDT seeks to produce work that questions and challenges social values while, simultaneously, exploiting history as a launch pad for (material) research and development.
Prior to July 2003 it had been operating on a project to project basis. In 2004 the company established its fulltime programme in a permanent space (The Dance Space)and shifted from the project to project basis and made its name both nationally and internationally.
