Mine Boy by William Branford
by William Branford. 1946. A one-act play which is a stage adaptation of Peter Abrahams's novel of the same name. Performed by the Durban Medical Students' Group from 20 to 23 April, 1955, it deals with a rural labourer who goes to work on the gold mines in Johannesburg. Undated typescript in the Thomas Pringle Collection, National English Literary Museum, Grahamstown.

Performances
The adaptation, directed by Roel Twijnstra and Jerry Pooe , was produced in 2014 by Eager Artists (the resident company of the Wushwini Arts and Heritage Centre) and The Stable Theatre, with choreography by Sphiso Majola and the cast. Design and video projections are by Doung Jahangeer, photographs by Dean Hutton.
The musical opened 20 June 2015 in the Stable Theatre, Durban, followed by a run at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre, before going on a national tour.
