An Italian play in three acts by Ugo Betti (1892-1953). Original Italian title Il paese delle vacanze ("vacation land"). Written in 1937. It was part of a trilogy of satirical play, which also included Una bella domenica di settembre (1935, "A Beautiful Sunday in September") and I nostri sogni (1936, "Our People's Dreams").
Full English title Summertime - An idyll in three acts, translated by Henry Reed (Samuel French, 1957). Translated into Afrikaans as Skrikkeljaar – 'n Idille in drie bedrywe by Alewyn Lee (DALRO, 1968).

Performers: Berdine Grünewald, Eghard van der Hoven, Gerrit Wessels, Mathilde Hanekom, Sann de Lange, Reenen van Niekerk, Salie Vermaak, Louisa Aucamp. Directed by Robert Mohr, costumes by Doreen Graves and décor by Frank Graves.
