The Farndale Murder Mystery, produced in 1988 for the Royal Shakespeare Company, was written by British actor, producer, playwright, screenwriter and film critic David McGillivray (born 1947) and Walter Zerlin. For its South African production the title was changed to The Bergvliet Murder Mystery.

Directed by David McGillivray for CAPAB in 1989. Cape Town, National Arts Festival, Port Elizabeth Opera House, Guild Theatre East London. Mary Dreyer, Bo Petersen, Fiona Coyne, Pauline O’Kelly, Mark Hoeben (actor and stage manager), later replaced by Willie Fritz.
