Named after Professor [[Elizabeth Sneddon]]who had founded it as a theatre for the University of Natal, Durban, Drama Department It is situated on the campus of the University of Natal, Durban, and it has a steeply-raked, 384-seater auditorium, with proscenium and thrust. Opened 22nd June 1981 with Nikolai Erdman’s ''[[The Suicide]]'' (C : 1928) and a two-week [[Theatre in Focus Festival]].  Presents a wide range of productions and festivals (Shakespeare, dance, musicals, new plays, film etc) by the University of Natal Department of Drama and visiting companies.
