Founding and early history
Company formed in Paarl in 1947 by actor/director André Rousseau after his return from a stay in London during the latter years of WWII. Its first production, touring across the Union, was Liefde in Satyn, an Afrikaans translation and adaptation of Sheridan's The Rivals, which premièred in March 1947. In July 1947 the company staged their second touring production, Eerloos, an Afrikaans translation and adaptation of W.G. van Nouhuys's play.
