An afterpiece by John Till Allingham (fl. 1799–1810). First produced at Covent Garden Theatre in 1799, it long enjoyed popularity, and the leading character "Robin Roughhead" was played by many celebrated actors.
Performance history in South Africa
2 November 1822: Performed in Cape Town by the Amateur Company company (Garrison Players) in the African Theatre, with The Soldier's Daughter (Cherry) and Speed the Plough (Morton).
