Montserrat (1948), a tragedy written in French by Emmanuel Roblès. The play is about the civil war in Venezuela and was performed for the first time in the Théâtre Montparnasse in Paris on 23 April 1948. Translated into Afrikaans by Bartho Smit and published in the series Bartho Smit-vertalings by HAUM-Literêr in 1984 with Becket, of Die Eer van God by Anouilh and Die Burgemeester by Hofmann in in the same volume. The translated version was presented by PACT in the National Theatre, Pretoria and the Civic Theatre, Johannesburg in 1963.
