Set in 1936 Pittsburgh during the aftermath of the Great Depression, The Piano Lesson follows the lives of the Charles family in the Doaker Charles household and an heirloom, the infamous piano. Produced by the Civic Theatre, Johannesburg, at the National Arts Festival, 1996, directed by Jerry Mofokeng, assisted by Lynne Maree., Set and costume designer Lyn Leventhorpe, lighting designer Stan Knight.
