A prose comedy in five acts by Alexandre Dumas snr. A young couple, married for convenience, discover each other's charms. First performed at the Théâtre Français on the 1st of June, 1841. Adapted into English as A Marriage of Convenience by Sydney Grundy, in 1897, revived in 1918. Translated into Afrikaans as Gerieflike Huwelik and first performed in South Africa by Paul de Groot in 1927, starring inter alia Maxie Botha.
