Ingrid Harmsen is a theatre maker from Germany, who created a German theatre company in Cape Town in the late 20th century.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
Harmsen, who had been working in the theatre field in Germany for 12 years, and her husband were posted to the German Consulate General in Cape Town late in the 20th century. Seeing this posting as an opportunity to contribute to the cultural life of the Western Cape, she set herself the goal of promoting the German language and fostering interaction between German-speaking South Africans, regardless of race. Her idea was to bring together a small group of German amateur actors and and have them perform for the Cape public.
The company, known as Das Kleine Theater am Kap, began its work in 1995.
