The Claremont Town Hall (1879–1946)
The Claremont Hall was opened in 1879. In 1882, a village management board was formed, and in 1886 it was replaced by the Municipality of Claremont, which managed neighbouring Newlands too. The privately owned Claremont Hall was taken over as a town hall. This venue stood opposite the station, the site of all public entertainment where concert parties, school productions and meetings were held. The site today is covered by a few small shops and a flower market.
The Claremont Civic Centre (1960- )
The present Civic Centre stands on what was once the site of the well-known private school for girls, "Milburn House".

Mark Twain gave three performances of his At Home there in July 1896.
