Kumaran Naidu ( 1973/4?-2026) was an actor and filmmaker.

Biography

Born and raised in Chatsworth in Durban, he later moved to Gauteng.

He died in 2026 at the age of 52, following a long illness, survived by his wife Fiona, and sons Sudarshan and Maheshan.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Working in both film and television, he is widely seen as someone who helped to revolutionise local Indian films with projects that championed local narratives and brought Durban and South African experiences to national and international audiences.

His best known films include Broken Promises and Run for Your Life.
