Watermelon Boats is a 10 minute comedy for senior teenagers by Wendy MacLaughlin (2031-2008)[1]

The original text

Two young ladies grow up and explore their friendship, relationships, and encounters with life over the span of 10 years in 10 minutes.

Commissioned for and first performed by the Actors Theatre in Louisville on 8 May 1979, directed by Larry Deckel and Michael Hankins. The text published in Ten Minute Plays from Actors Theatre of Louisville, Vol. 1.


Translations and adaptations

Translated into Afrikaans by Valerea Jonker as Waatlemoen Bote, as a writing exercise for the playwriting course in the Stellenbosch Drama Department circa 2001.
