Kaskenades van Jakkals (“The antics of Jackal”) is a operetta/comedy for children by De Wet Laubscher and/or Maxie de Villiers.

The original text

A play featuring animal characters, it has a cast of 18 children.

The various sources offer different indications of the nature of the piece and of the authorship thereof.

Originally published as Kaskenades van Jakkals in Cape Town by H.A.U.M./Jacques Dusseau & Co, in 1934, and referred to as an operetta for children by De Wet Laubscher and Maxie de Villiers or Maxie de Villiers alone. Later also published as a playtext by DALRO (Dramatic, Artistic, and Literary Rights Organisation) in 1970, in this case called a comedy and ascribed to De Wet Laubscher alone.
