''[[Die Oosterlig]]'' was an afternoon Afrikaans language newspaper first published in Port Elizabeth in 1937. On May 1, 1993, it was bought out by ''[[Die Burger]]'' and assumed that name. Although ''[[Die Oosterlig]]'''s circulation was never more than 10,000, the purchase by ''[[Die Burger]]'' managed to double that. The combined daily circulation of the Western Cape and Eastern Cape editions in 2007 reached 91,665, mainly because of the inclusion of ''[[Die Son]]''.
