Ver in die Wêreld Kittie is a musical by David Kramer

The original text

The g musical tells the story of the success of singers Josef Marais and Rosa de Miranda’s in America and Canada in the 1950s, where they toured as ballad singers who performed Afrikaans folk songs in English. Kittie Jaftha, a woman who grew up with Josef’s mother in Worcester feels betrayed because she knows Josef learned these songs from her and Koos Heuningbek, a worker on the farm of Koos’s father.

The piece is performed in English and Afrikaans, with surtitles for anyone that doesn’t speak Afrikaans.

2024: Performed at The Blik in Cape Town from 11 Aug 2024. Directed by David Karmer with Jenny Stead, André Terblanché, Dean Balie and Rushney Ferguson and musicians Kerryn Torrance, Ivan Potts and Nick Turner.
