The Country of the Blind is a play by the English author H. G. Wells (Born Herbert George Wells on 21st September, 1866, in Bromley, Kent and died on the 13th August, 1946, aged 79 years in London, England.)
The original text
A short story dealing with blindness and which was first published in the April 1904 issue of The Strand Magazine and later included in a 1911 collection of Wells's short stories. It is one of Wells's best known short stories, and features prominently in literature dealing with blindness.
Performance history in South Africa
November 1945: The Country of the Blind was adapted for SABC radio station Johannesburg, Bloemfontein and Grahamstown "A" (English) by Jack Bligh.
