The original text
An indirect spin-off of District Six – The Musical and other works by David Kramer and Taliep Petersen play , the musical was created by Kramer to celebrate the vibrant musical culture that was to be found in the streets, halls, hotels, clubs and bioscopes of 1960s District Six.

Performance history in South Africa
2016: The play opened in the Fugard Theatre, Cape Town, on 11 February, precisely 50 years after the district had been declared a white group area on 11 February 1966. Directed David Kramer with Loukmaan Adams, Carlo Daniels, Sne Dladla, Andrea Frankson, Natasha Hess, Carmen Maarman, Edith Plaatjies, Cleo Raatus, Morné Holland, Kashiefa Blaauw. Set design by Saul Radomsky, costume design by Birrie le Roux, sound design by Aki Khan and musical direction by Alistair Izobel.
