The Union Bioscope Company was an early cinema company.
The company
Set up by a printer, a plumber, and a chemist to exploit the advent of the bioscope in South Arican they opened their first cinema in Human Street in Krugersdorp, It was a wood and iron building called the Lyric Theatre, but was later demolished and replaced by the Vaudette Theatre in 1909. The company thereafter used the name Vaudette Theatre for a number of cinemas in various towns/cities, including Kimberly and East London.
