Biography

Maureen Adair was born in Dublin on 29 September 1931 and came to South Africa to marry Harold Lake. After his death in 1964 she married Haydn Talmage Bradfield, who was mayor of Durban from 1978 to 1980. She died in 1997.


Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Roles in stage plays such as Taubie Kushlick’s Listen to the Wind (1956), Sandy Wilson’s The Boy Friend (1957), Anthony Farmer’s Ever Since Eve (1958).


As a radio actress famous for her part in the popular Men from the Ministry series for 28 years.
