Have You Seen Us? is a play by Athol Fugard (1932-).


The play

The play is Fugard's first set in the USA (the action takes place in and around a sandwich shop in Southern California), and all the characters are immigrants. The play is seen through the lens of a South African expat living in San Diego. The play explores the loneliness and despair of immigrants, showing their vulnerability and dealings with prejudice.

Have You Seen Us? is published in The Train Driver and other plays, Theatre Communications Group, 2012.

Performances

Have You Seen Us? had its world premiere at the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut in December 2009, directed by Gordon Edelstein, starring Sam Waterston.
