The Cat and the Canary is a melodramatic romp written in 1922 by American playwright John Willard [1] (1885-1942).

Performance history in South Africa
1978: Performed by Quince Productions, directed by Michael Howard (also starring as "Paul Jones") from 1 May to 1 July 1978 at the Brooke Theatre, Johannesburg, The cast also included Vivienne Drummond, Volente Bertotti, Diane Ridler, Robert Lang, Peter van Dissel, Terrick Fitzhugh, Stuart Parker, Brenda Wood, Bill Brewer.
