Port Elizabeth Amateur Operatic Club was an early amateur acting/opera club. Unfortunately, this pioneering group had an early demise which “had, unfortunately, to suspend its operations for the same sad reasons which have forced retirement upon so many concerns dependent on the continuous activities of the nimble sixpence.” Simply put, they ran out of cash.
