Biography
Born in Paarl in 1955, he grew up on a farm in the Wolseley district and matriculated at the High School Transvalia in Vanderbijlpark inin 1973. He studied at the University of Stellenbosch and obtained his BA (Hons) in 1987 in Afrikaans and Dutch cum laude. He is married to Qwen and they have three daughters.
He taught for 28 years, 25 of the at Paul Roos Gimnasium where he directed plays with pupils. He is a guest house owner in Stellenbosch.

In 1990 he began writing Afrikaans one act plays and competed in many competitions: the ATKV national competition, the Logan-toneelfees in Fraserburg and the Montagu-toneelfees. In 1993 he won the C.R. Swart Prize for Willie and in 1996 he won the ATKV competition with Die Groot Gegrabbel na die Appel. Other plays include Die Grafoppassers (1992),
