Biography
Johan Hugo was born in Paarl in 1955. He grew up on a farm in Wolseley and matriculated in 1973 at the High School Transvalia in Vanderbijlpark. He studied at the University of Stellenbosch and obtained his BA (Hons) in 1987 in Afrikaans and Dutch cum laude. He is married to Qwen and they have three daughters.
He taught for 28 years, 25 of the at Paul Roos Gimnasium where he directed plays with pupils. He is a guest house owner in Stellenbosch.
