Ross Devenish (born 1939). Film director.

Biography
Born in Pietersburg (now Polokwane) on 15 November 1939, he studied film making in London and began his career making documentary films. Turning to feature films, he joined forces with Athol Fugard to produce and direct three films based on scripts by Fugard, and going on to make a few more films and numerous TV series for British television companies.

His stage production of A Lesson from Aloes was put on Upstairs at the Market in 1980, having played to full houses at London's National Theatre.
He worked with Athol Fugard, directing three films with scripts by Fugard: Boesman and Lena (1973), The Guest: (1977, won a Bronze Leopard at Locarno International Film Festival) and Marigolds in August (1980, winner of the Berlin Bear Anniversary Prize at the the 30th Berlin International Film Festival).
He also made a film called City Lovers (with a script by Nadine Gordimer) and a documentary version of Mbongeni Ngema's play Asinamali (1986). .
Awards, etc
Marigolds in August was awarded a Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival in 1980.
