Biography
Born in Loxton, Cape Province. Married to Willem van der Berg.
Training
Followed course in Speech and Drama at the University of Stellenbosch and University of Cape Town. Further studies followed at the London Mask Theatre School from 1938 until her return to South Africa in 1939 with the outbreak of the Second World War.
Career
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
Opened the Akademie vir Dramakuns with Aletta Gericke, 1940. Acted in or directed numerous plays, including Die Vroue van Troje, Suster Beatrys, Die Grootste Koninkryk, Van Nege tot Ses, Ek Onthou vir Mamma and she directed Die Vrek in 1951, 'n Wingerdstok sal Rank in 1971, Ousus 1972.
