The Cape Town International Kite Festival was first held in 1994 and is Africa's biggest (some also claim it is the oldest oldest) kite festival. Attracting over 20,000 visitors annually, it has expert kiting exponents from South Africa and other parts of the world participating.
The event includes activities such as kite-making, kite-flying, food stalls, kiddies’ rides, a full programme of entertainment and an eclectic craft market, and takes place on (and above) the lawns of Zandvlei Nature Reserve, Muizenberg daily during October.
