Mrs Bal-Van Lier (1861 - 1939) was an amateur actress
Biography
Born in Amsterdam as Henriëtta Cornelia Minetta Van Lier in 1861, she became the second wife of the South Africa-based Dutch businessman Johannes Hendrik Eliza Bal (1850-1914)[1] in 1894.
Henrietta herself died in 1939.
Contribution to South African theatre and performance
She was an active member of, and leading actress for, the Pretoria-based Rederijkerskamer called Onze Taal in its second phase, i.e. from 1904 to 1912.
