Rose Scorgie (1881/1885–1974) was a South African poet, playwright and author.

Biography

Born Rose Wiggill Scorgie in Potchefstroom, Transvaal, South Africa on 21 December, 1881 (some sources have 1885), spending much of her life there, and died in June 1974 in Durban/Ellisras, Transvaal(?)

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Primarily known as a poet, she was the author of the poetry collection Saga of the Veldt (New York, The Galleon press, 1934) and wrote the one-act play The Worm in the Bud (1960) and the three-act play A Star Shines Amidst the Clouds (1960) - published jointly.
