First performed at St James's Theatre, London on 4 May, 1863 and published in London by T.H. Lacy in the same year.

1866: Performed as The Little Sentinel by the Le Roy-Duret Company in the Theatre Royal, Harrington Street, Cape Town, on 12 September, with Mrs Duret in the leading role of "May". Also performed were a new dance performance and a production of the local play Governor van Noot, or Things as They Were (Utting).
