J'invite le Colonel! is a comedy with music in one act by Eugène-Marin Labiche [1] and Marc-Michel (1812-1868)[2]

The original text

Comédie en un acte, mêlée de couplets. Représentée pour la première fois, à Paris, sur le théâtre du Palais-Royal, le 16 janvier 1860.

Translations and adaptations

A Dutch adaptation by an unknown author was published by G. Theod. Bom, Amsterdam, 1869.

Performance history in South Africa

1895: A play referred to as Uitgaan was twice performed in Pretoria in this year, probably by the Rederijkerskamer Onze Taal. F.C.L. Bosman (1980: p. 484) suggests this may have been a version of Ik Inviteer mijn Kolonel.
