A Leonard is mentioned as the Dutch translator/adaptor of a number of French plays, though it is not indicated whether this person was a Dutch citizen or lived in South Africa. If he/she was a Cape Town resident, this Leonard was most probably a member of the local Rederijkerskamer for which the translations had been done.
