Joseph Ribeiro (19**- ) [1] is a South African-born stage, film and television actor, university lecturer, voice and singing coach. Moved to the USA.

Biography

Training

He studied at the University of Cape Town Drama Department, won a Fulbright Scholarship in the 1970's, and received a master's degree from Columbia University.

Career

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Joseph was the musical director for a UCT Drama Department production of St Joan of the Stockyards in 1979. In 1980 he acted in The Hollow Crown and in 1985 he directed a production of The Mikado in Johannesburg. At Maynardville he appeared on stage in Twelfth Night (as Feste) in 1978 and in The Comedy of Errors in 1986.

He has directed and co-directed both opera and theatre productions for PACT, PACOFS, NAPAC.

He had a role in the film Joke's Speed which was made in Zimbabwe by a Los Angeles company.
